Hen Party

A Ripping time was had…

As you can see Alex’s hen party was beauty to behold. What a delightful day we had chatting out in the sunshine, as we ripped and sewed fabric together to make the most personal and beautiful decorations for the wedding marquee.

The Oddest Bar on Wilbraham Road, Chorlton hosted a Beetle Felt workshop which produced lots of unusual stripy sock creatures including a caterpillar, a dog, an ‘Umbah’ and a horse. www.oddbar.co.uk  Diane from Batty and Gorgeous was allowed some time out, whilst her son made an Umbah and a Boomamba.

Take a look at our family friendly activities for September which include Origami Gift boxes and Sock monsters. For more details visit: craft studio All Craft Studio activities are carefully designed for adults and children to enjoy being creative together. Workshops we have enjoyed so far have been making Tyvek beads, Finger puppets, Button bracelets and Tissue vases. These workshops are repeated regularly on Tuesdays 4.30-6.30pm, £10.

Basket WeavingWednesday Weaving workshops are happening and booking up fast for more details visit: workshop box loom and join us on the next weaving workshops listed below only £40 for four workshops:
Box loom weaving Wednesday 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th September 2010. Master the craft and make a heddle to make weaving easier, also have a go on a table loom.
Braiding 6th, 13th & 20th October 2010 (3 workshops £30)
Basket weaving 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th November 2010
Bead weaving 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd December 2010

 

Look out for piles of baskets displayed in the Fresh Save Green grocers as part of the Didsbury Arts Festival ‘Over the Counter’ event for more details visit www.didsburyartsfestival.org also visit the Craft Café on Sunday 26th September 10-5pm at the Northern Lawn tennis club. This is an opportunity to see– and buy – a range of crafts from local artists. Also enjoy tea, coffee and cakes on the lawn or listen to classical music and simply take in the vibrant café atmosphere.

 



Spinning a yarn!

SpinningWe had a great time demonstrating spinning at the Moor Music Festival at Heslaker Farm, Skipton, North Yorkshire. We were visited by lots of enthusiastic people who became hooked on spinning as much yarn as possible, we also chatted whilst we spun and heard many interesting stories and adventures. Coming up…

Margo Singer has organised the following excellent and informative course at Union Chapel, Wellington Road, Fallowfield, Manchester.
Exploring history, through fashion & textiles 1400-1900. This is a series of eight Thursday evenings 6-8pm starting on 23rd September. Along with other things the sessions will explore ruffs and farthingales, Victorian corsets and 19th century arts and crafts design. Cost: £40 for all 8 sessions.

Chorlton Quilting Group

Patchwork Bag ~  Saturday 6th November 10.30-1.30, £28.  Get in touch if you would like to make a very useful patchwork drawstring bag. You can make your bag personal to you by decorating it with appliqué, buttons and tassels.
